N Surendran is a distinguished human rights lawyer who has been at the forefront of the battle against a draconian ruling government for 15 years. He is the champion, pro-bono, of the many victimized by an authoritarian state.
In 2005, he co-founded Lawyers for Liberty, a non-governmental organization which champions human rights causes.
He is also an ardent advocate of animal causes and is the President of ROAR, an animal rescue and protection NGO.
In 2010, Surendran was appointed Vice-President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat.
In Malaysia's 2013 General Election, he entered Parliament by winnning in Padang Serai.
